Co-op Learning: Invasive Plants

Blue Ridge Prism will be here to help you identify, and learn how to handle, Invasive Plants.

Most invasive plants green up in spring earlier than native plants and
some remain green and growing all winter – this behavior offers a
perfect opportunity to control the bad guys without harming the good
guys.

We’ll have an invasive plant ID clinic, so bring samples of your
mystery plants and we’ll identify them!

Topics covered in this session will include:

Identifying invasive plants in spring
Which invasives you can best kill now
Which invasives you should treat later
Best spring-time practices for each invasive
Using manual & mechanical control methods
Methods for controlling invasives with herbicides
Choosing the right herbicide and equipment, and using it properly
Planning a work schedule with best timings for multiple plants
