Stop in the co-op from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday, October 27th and have the kids paint a pumpkin with us. They can take them home when they are done!

Join us for the first annual Community Harvest Party here at the Friendly City Food Co-op! There will be live music, fall inspired games, prizes, a petting zoo, food trucks and contests in the parking lot.

Inside the store, there will be tours of our upcoming expansion (for owners only) with food and drink samples. There will also be an annual meeting for owners where we’ll get to meet the candidates running for the Board of Directors.

Co-op Learning: Zero Waste

Concerned about the amount of waste you and your family produce?

Allie Emerick, from Bring Your Own, LLC, will be here to teach us how to start limiting the waste in our lives. We’ll learn how to make pesto from an ingredient that you might ordinarily throw away – the green tops of carrots.

You’ll need to register for the class– either online or in the store.

Co-op Learning: The Basics of Wine Tasting

If you’re interested in improving your understanding of wine and your ability to taste it, this is the class for you! We’ll explore a simple 4-step method will allow you to create an informed opinion about the wine you are drinking, as well as enhance your enjoyment of it.
Jeff Latchum from Williams Corner will present this class as a live tasting and learning experience. The price of your ticket will include sample wines and a snack. After the presentation, Jeff will be available to answer any questions you may have.

National Film Showing: Food For Change

In honor of National Co-op Month, food co-ops in more than 35 communities across the U.S., including ours, will be showing the acclaimed movie

Food For Change: The Story of Cooperation In America

Join us at Bridgewater College to learn more about the important historical role played by food co-ops, our quest for organic foods, and current efforts to create regional food systems.

Additionally, the film shows how cooperatives today strengthen local economies and build food security.

CLOSED / Co-op Learning: Intro to Beekeeping

THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL.

Join us for this fascinating class about the importance of bees in our ecosystem and, you’ll learn how you can become a beekeeper!

Mike Hott, of Hott Apiary, will present this introduction to beekeeping which will delve into the following topics:

  • the components of a hive
  • tools of the trade
  • protective clothing
  • hive inspection
  • what to look for in a productive hive
  • dos and don’ts of beekeeping

Register online or in-store. Cost is $10, or $5 for owners.

DOGGY DAYS of Summer!

Doggy Treats! Prizes! Doggy Pool!

Take a break from the heat and bring your doggy by for a swim. There will be FREE dips in the kiddie pool, giveaways, and Eric Lynn from local producer, Whistle Creek Treats, will be here. Your dog will love it!

And even if you don’t currently own a dog, Jo Benjamin from the SPCA will be here with news on dogs you can adopt. And that’s a tail wagger!!

Board Candidate Info Session, Thursday, August 9 – 6:30pm-7:00pm
This is your chance to discover the opportunities and responsibilities involved with being on the Friendly City Food Co-op Board of Directors.

We will have snacks and drinks and a relaxed hour chatting about our co-op and how you can maybe be more involved in it’s future.

Afterwards, you can attend the board meeting at 7pm to find out even more about how things work.

Wine and Food Pairing

Join us for another evening of great wine and food pairing, presented by Brock Kappers of Country Vintner.

There will be five courses, paired with five rosé wines, which are so enjoyable during the summer months. The food will be prepared by Friendly City Deli chefs. Register online or in-store.
$25, or just $20 for owners.
