Sustainability Matters Party at the Landfill

Sustainability Matters and the Shenandoah County Landfill are making trash bloom by planting a pollinator habitat at the landfill! Come learn about the project, check out the new educational signage, and help seed the experimental pilot plot.

The co-op will be there with some seasonal snacks and we’ll be helping to sow the seeds that will turn the landfill into a pollinator garden. Join us!!

Annual Owner Meeting / Local Farm-to-Table Brunch

All owners are invited to our first ever Local Farm-to-Table Brunch, combined with our Annual Owner Meeting.
Please join us on Saturday, November 2 at 12:00 noon, on the co-op patio for a very special event.

12:00 noon: Arrive and enjoy brunch – talk with current board members and 2020 Board of Directors candidates
1:00 pm: Hear the news about the year past, and the year ahead (Spoiler Alert: there will be expansion and construction!)

Seating will be limited, so it will be first come, first serve for the brunch. There is no cost for the brunch. All you need to do is be an owner, and rsvp by October 28, either in the store or online under the events/class signup section. [we do ask that you inform us asap if you are not going to be able to attend, so that someone else may have your seat.]

Bring the kids by for this fun event. Each child gets a pumpkin to paint!  Weather permitting, we’ll paint outside on the patio, or inside the café if the weather isn’t good.

This is a FREE event.

Making Kombucha – CLASS IS FULL!

 

You asked for a class on Kombucha Making and we heard you! Join us on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:00pm and learn how to make your own kombucha. It’s easy, fun, and you’ll be given a scoby to take home so you can brew your own.

Co-op team member, Mackenzie Jenkins, will be your instructor. Not only will you learn how to make kombucha, but you’ll also learn a bit about the history behind the drink and its health benefits.

Just $10 or $5 for Owners – register in-store or online to reserve your place.

Healing Through Movement

This dance class is intended to get our bodies moving, our blood circulating, and fill our spirits with joy. Come join us as we dance into the new season, using the healing powers of music and choreography to bring out the “fierceness” in us all. Taught by Friendly City Team Member, Talibah Aquil.

Cost is $5, or FREE for Owners. You must sign up either in-store or online to secure your spot – limited space available.

Join Us for a Farm-to-Table dinner on the Friendly City Food Co-op patio. Arrive around 6pm, grab a seat at the picnic table, and plan to enjoy a beautiful meal. Old Hill Cider will be pouring some tasting samples of their beautiful local cider made with apples from Showalter’s Orchards.
