Join us for Co-op Summer Olympics!

Join us on Friday August 2nd for more Summer Olympic Games at the Co-op! Pop in for an Ice Cream Sandwich Tasting, where you can sample delicious varieties of Nightingale ice cream sandwiches and vote for your favorite. Then, race against the clock in our Corn Shucking Contest to see how many corn cobs you can shuck within the allotted time. Finally, put your knowledge to the test in our Herb Identification challenge, where you’ll identify as many herbs as possible by smell or taste within a time limit. Come participate in these activities for a chance at glory and to win gold, silver, and bronze prizes!

Join us on Friday July 26th for Opening Day of the Summer Olympic Games! Test your stacking skills in the Produce Stacking Challenge where you can show off your precision and balance. Then, conquer our Balancing Act Obstacle Course, where speed and agility will help you become the champion. Finally, put your taste buds to the test in our Blind Taste Test challenge and see how well you can identify a variety of fruits, vegetables, and spices. Come participate in these activities for a chance at glory and to win gold, silver and bronze prizes!

Round Up for Change at the registers June 2nd – 8th to help NewBridges Immigrant Resource Center! NewBridges directly responds to the changing demographics in the Shenandoah Valley by engaging immigrants, connecting cultures, & building community. They offer low-cost immigration legal representation, resource navigation, & referral services to help newcomers in Harrisonburg, Rockingham & throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Their services help newcomers get work authorization, navigate medical systems & achieve major life goals. Your generous donation will provide essential funding for immigration legal training, focusing on the complexities of T and U Visas. These visas are critical for victims of human trafficking and sexual or domestic violence. Each case presents unique challenges and learning opportunities for our legal practitioners. Your Round Up will make this advanced training possible, empowering them to better serve and advocate for some of their most vulnerable clients. Thank you very much for your support!

NewBridges will receive 100% of the Round Up funds, and the Co-op will match the total Round Up amount by 25%.

First Fridays – Color Therapy by Martha Putney

Join us for First Friday!

Join us on Friday, May 3rd for the First Friday opening of Color Therapy by Martha Putney.

She will be showcasing oil paintings on paper, composed of shapes and color in order to evoke emotions, memory, time and balance to the viewer. She is going to offer a selection of small 4x6in. paintings that will be a “Pay What You Want” project in order to promote equitable access to art, along with her regularly priced work.

Artist Statement: Martha was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley.  She received a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from the University of Mary Washington in 2015.  Her head is filled with colors when she meets people, reads a book, and thinks about time.  Because of this, she is endlessly fascinated in how color has a language of its own for telling stories about people, places, emotions, and moments in time.  She aims to capture these stories by subtle and bold nuances of colors and shapes.
