Co-op Explorer’s for Kids – Edible Science

Join Kari for a new chapter of Co-op Explorer’s Learning for Kids.

This time she’ll be conducting science demonstrations and hands-on experiments which will introduce the basic principles of science by incorporating everyday foods and ingredients in a fun and imaginative way.

These classes will be held on the patio for ages 2-12. Currently, there is no sign-up required. Classes are held from 11am to 12:00 noon and continue every other Saturday through September 18.

SCHEDULE:

Saturday, September 4
We’ll make juice worms this week while we learn about molecular gastronomy.

Saturday, September 18
The grand finale to the series will be a magic show!
It will incorporate many of the scientific principles we’ve learned.

Grand Expansion Celebration

We started construction last June, 2020, and have just completed the addition of over 2,000 square feet to our store. Join us for a fun-filled week of prizes, giveaways, samples and more to help us celebrate.

There will be in-store giveaways all through the week, as well as a daily contest on our Instagram page.
There will be activities held out on the patio – all are drop-in basis so you can arrive and leave anytime during the activity that you like. You do not have to sign up ahead of time, just come!
Also, masks and social distancing will be required.

Join us on the patio to make your very own seed starter!  A quick, fun, easy activity.  Geared toward kids, but adults could join in!

3:00-6:00  POSITIVITY ROCKS! – this kid-friendly activity will be held on a drop-in basis.
Join us on the patio to paint rocks with positive messages!  Wonderful to leave around the community to brighten up someone’s day or share them with a friend.

12:00-3:00 pm  RED ROOT & CO – EXPLORE DOWNTOWN – this activity is for adults, and does not require sign-up.
Corey from Red Root & Co. will lead a downtown walk for participants where she will identify some plants, and talk about their uses. The tours will run 45 minutes. Everyone will meet on the patio to begin the tour. Tour start times below.

Join us for some mindfulness. We’ll have yoga cards with different poses on the patio so that kids can take a minute to move their body.

All Day: In-store and online Giveaways!

11:00-2:00  SALT SCRUB – this activity is for adults, and does not require sign-up. It will be held on a drop-in basis.
Join Chloe on the patio and learn to make an essential oil salt scrub!

4:00-7:00 Sage Bird Ciderworks
Sage Bird Ciderworks will be out on the patio with samples of their delicious, hand-crafted, locally sourced and produced hard cider. (must be 21 years of age)

 

Saturday May 1

All Day: In-store and online Giveaways!

10:00-1:00  MAKE A WORRY DOLL!  May all your troubles go away! Join Ashley on the patio and learn how to make a worry doll out of paracord!  Take some time to enjoy a worry-free afternoon of crafting and leave the event with your very own handmade doll!  The children’s book Silly Billy by Anthony Browne will be available to read at the event.

Join us for Owner Appreciation Days – for the month of December, we’d like to accommodate all owners by offering 10% off all purchases made on any one shopping trip between December 10-12.  

Just tell the cashier you’d like to use your Owner Appreciation discount. It’s our way of thanking you for being an owner!

If you’d like to use Curbside Pickup, you can specify on the order form that you’d like to use your owner discount (on the day of your choice during that time).

Kitchen Cabinet Herbalism – Herbal Steams & Teas

 

Join us for a fun evening on the patio with Corey MacDonald of Red Root & Co. and Kathy Buchet of Pachamama Herbal Kitchen as they guide us through the process of making herbal steams and teas using kitchen provisions and locally grown herbs. These steams and teas are another way to help protect your health, especially with the upcoming colder weather.

Kitchen Cabinet Herbalism: Herbal Steams and Teas curriculum includes: a short synopsis of lifestyle health topics from first class, info on 3-5 plants, learning to make, knowledge of and how to use, herbal steams and herbal teas. Each participant leaves with a bag of dried herbal tea, ingredients for herbal steam, plant info handout and recipes.

$15/$10 for Owners. Masks are required. Class size will be limited so sign up soon. Your registration/payment secures your spot in the class. Register and pay on the events page of our website, in person at the co-op, or with your Co-Go online order. Owners receive a $5 discount, as always.

The Co-op is 9 years old on Saturday June 6!

We’ll be celebrating in a couple of ways this year.

 

First, we’re expanding! We’ve been raising money through Owner Loans for over a year now and have reached our goal! Construction on the store’s expansion began on Monday, June 1st.
