First Friday – Night Lights by Stuart Landis

Join us on Friday, March 1st for the art opening of Night Lights by local artist Stuart Landis!

Take a walk in the rainy city late at night, and all the stores are closed, all the crowds have left. The bright signs and street lights you see around have a different feel now that there is nobody to draw in, and there is nowhere for the lights to take you since all the shops are now dark. Let your mind wander on your walk and your surroundings begin to float and blur. This isn’t the city you’re used to walking in, but it is both peaceful and unnerving to see this place while it resets for tomorrow. All the pieces from this Night Lights series are real locations in downtown Harrisonburg, and are painted with extra care to illuminate the dreamy reality of our city when nobody is looking.

Stuart Landis is an oil painter currently residing in the Shenandoah Valley. He has had his artwork shown in galleries throughout the valley, as well as winning the Artist’s Choice award for the 2022 Deck Show. All works shown are available to own, and prints are available for these pieces as well. You may inquire about purchase, commission opportunities, and prints via stuart.landis.art@gmail.com or through Instagram @s2landis

Stop by our café from 5:00-7:00PM to meet the artist, see the artwork, and enjoy snacks from the store! If you can’t make it to the opening stop by sometime during the month to see the art!
