Join us on Saturday March 11th from 12:00-2:00 to learn about different composting methods from 3 different experts and celebrate Food Waste Action Week with us.
Adrie Voors, Master Naturalist, compost aficionado, and worker at Black Bear Composting will be here tabling and talking about the basics of backyard composting, Black Bear composting, and her work at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market. Stop by to chat, learn about compost, and ask questions!
Chris Bowlen, Master Naturalist and local vermicomposting expert will be here tabling and talking about how to set up and maintain a worm composting operation. Come out and learn if vermicomposting is right for you and your family!
Cassie from Kenkashi Microbes will be here tabling from 12:30-2:30. She will be talking about the Bokashi style of composting and demonstrating how to use Kenkashi Composting Kits. The Bokashi method is used for composting all organic food waste, including meat, dairy and fats. It was developed in Japan and used in Asia to ferment food prior to composting. We will have Kenkashi Kits for sale in-store while supplies last.
