Sweet and bubbly, this Watermelon Punch will help you chill out in the summer heat.
Ripe and juicy local watermelon floats in harmony with fizzy lemon-lime soda. Add some sake for a little kick, or rock it without. Whatever way you want to enjoy it, this punch is perfect for porch-sippin’, backyard shindigs, or just hangin’ out.
Ingredients:
1 local watermelon (seedless or seeded)
2 cans Culture Pop® Lemon Lime Soda
Plenty of ice
Instructions:
Cut your watermelon in half.
Scoop out the watermelon into a large bowl. You should do this using a melon baller, if you have one. You can also cut out slabs of watermelon, then use a fruit cutter that can cut the watermelon into fun shapes.
As you cut the watermelon, don’t throw away the juice. Collect it in your bowl with the watermelon.
Hollow out the watermelon halves and set them aside to fill with your punch. You can use these for a fun presentation, especially if you are having a get-together. However, you will still need a pitcher of some sort, since the watermelons won’t be big enough to hold all of the punch.
*If you are adding alcohol to your punch, this is the time to do so. Rum or tequila is recommended for pairing with watermelon. You can also use sake, of which we have several great options in our Beer and Wine Section.
In a large pitcher or punch bowl, add your Culture Pop® soda. Add the watermelon juice and half of the watermelon chunks. *If you are adding alcohol to your punch, this is the time to do so. You can also use sake, of which we have several great options in our Beer and Wine Section. For harder spirits, rum or tequila is recommended for pairing with watermelon. Add as little or as much as you’d like, or allow your guests to serve themselves.
Pour the punch into glasses filled with ice.
Serve, sip, and enjoy.
