What’s the Board Been Discussing Lately?
The board has been talking about and considering updating the co-op’s Ends statement to clearly articulate the co-op’s values and social justice commitments, framed through the lenses of gratitude, kindness, and love.
How are You Celebrating the Season?
I plan to embrace the summer season by getting outside to soak up the sunshine, breathe in the fresh air, and discover pockets of joy in the wonders of nature, while enjoying the delicious and nourishing bounty from our family garden, our CSA crate, and the local harvest shared through FCFC.
What Do You Think Makes the Co-op Special/Different?
- Everyone is welcome! The friendly, warm-spirited vibe is truly unique!
- The co-op is owned by the people who shop there:
- Becoming a member is easy and affordable – a one-time fee of $200 that can be paid in monthly installments
- A worthwhile investment that comes with many benefits
- Did you know that if you decide to discontinue your membership that the co-op will buy back your share?
- Our co-op works hard to serve community needs, not just maximize profits, by:
- Supporting local farmers and businesses
- Prioritizing sustainability and fair labor practices
- Promoting wellness, equity, and food justice
- I asked my family why they think the co-op is special, and they said:
- “It’s hands-down the best quality produce you will find in our area.”
- ”I love that our co-op is both a champion and a changemaker for social justice.”
- “Our co-op is a place where learning, sharing, and growing happen while you grocery shop.”
What’s a Co-op Item You Can’t Live Without?
AR’s Hot Honey (from Richmond, Virginia) – I LOVE this delicious honey with its perfect spicy twist and find myself drizzling it on all kinds of food, like cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, oatmeal, Brie, roasted veggies, bread, pizza, and I could go on and on…
