Why Does Our Grocery Store Have a Board of Directors?
We’re more than just a grocery store, we’re a food co-op! As a food co-op, our unique cooperative structure relies on collective decision-making and owner participation, that’s where our board comes in. Elected by co-op owners, the nine-member Board of Directors is the policy-setting arm of the Friendly City Food Co-op. They serve as representatives of co-op owners, working diligently to plan, review, and oversee the Co-op’s activities.
Our Board is made up of co-op owners who are committed to maintaining the co-op’s health and prosperity, safeguarding the values that make it a community-driven grocery store.
