Ownership FAQs

Yes! Anyone can shop at our food co-op, owners just receive extra perks.

The cost of a share is $200. You can pay it outright or pay in $25 installments over the course of 8 months.

Yes! Anyone can return their ownership share at any time and get their $200 back, no questions asked.

We use the equity payments from our owners to purchase equipment, fund growth, and for operational expenses.

Patronage dividends are distributed after years that the co-op makes a profit.

Usually they are added to Owner accounts in March and you will be notified via email or mail about the amount of your dividend.

Unfortunately only Virginia residents are allowed to be Friendly City Food Co-op owners.
